Willie Johnson a part of "Dial M for Murder" production

2017 Feb 21

Willie Johnson, of Little Rock, recently played a role in the Southern Arkansas University Theatre production of the thriller, "Dial M for Murder."

Johnson, a freshman Theatre major, was a sound board manager for the show.

The thriller, written by Frederick Knott and directed by SAU's Richard Vollmer, is a suspense thriller based on the classic 1954 Alfred Hitchcock film. An ex-tennis pro carries out a plot to murder his wife; when things go wrong, he improvises a brilliant plan B.

This was the second-to-last show of a series of productions presented for SAU's 2016-2017 Main Stage Theatre Season. The theatre's final show will be the big musical of the year, "The Little Mermaid," which will run April 20-22 at 7 p.m. nightly and at 2 p.m. on April 23 at Harton Theatre.

Southern Arkansas University offers Arkansas's most affordable Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performing Arts with studies in Musical Theatre and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performing Arts with studies in Theatre. SAU's BFA in Musical Theatre started the fall of 2015, and it entails a complete theatre and music curriculum based on the National Association of Schools of Music. The NASM is the national accrediting agency for music and music-related disciplines.
