Thomas Quarshie attends 2017 National Leadership Conference

2017 Nov 8

Thomas Quarshie traveled to Anaheim, California, this past summer with the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) chapter at Southern Arkansas University to attend the 2017 National Leadership Conference.

Quarshie, from El Dorado, is a senior Accounting major.

A total of 13 chapter members and chapter adviser Dr. Gerald Plumlee attended the four-day conference, which included numerous leadership workshops, national competitive events, and national officer elections.

To qualify for national competition and to attend the PBL National Leadership Conference, members placed in the top of one or two of over 60 academic, public speaking, or interview-related competitive events at the Arkansas State Leadership Conference in April. First, second, and third place winners in events represented SAU and Arkansas PBL at the national event in Anaheim.

The winners of these highly competitive awards are selected from among FBLA-PBL's membership of over 250,000 students and advisers and represent some of the best and brightest students across the nation. At nationals, the top 10 competitors are recognized and the top three competitors receive cash prizes.
