Michelle Beavers honored as an SAU Who's Who student

Michelle Beavers, of Metairie, La., was recently named as a 2014-15 Who's Who Among Students at Southern Arkansas University.

Beavers is a senior Chemistry major.

On campus, Beavers is captain of the cross country team, vice president of National Society of Leadership and Success, treasurer of Pre-Health Club, Science and Engineering Ambassador, Supplemental Instruction leader, a member of Honors College, Biology Club, Student Athlete Admission Committee, Tri-Beta, Alpha Chi, and track and field.

In the 2014-2015 academic year, Beavers was awarded SAU Foundation Travel Scholarship, Academic All-American All-District First Team, and Academic All-American second team.

A total of 13 students were named to the prestigious list for this academic year. Students who receive this award were either nominated by student organizations, faculty and staff, or they applied for nomination themselves. The University's Student Affairs Committee reviews the applications and selects the top-rated students based on a point system. Points are based on scholarship, leadership and service.

According to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, this award is one of the most prestigious awards the academic community can bestow. This exclusive honor is conferred by more than 2,842 schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
