Leslie Haliiburton receives a Leadership Award at SAU

Leslie Haliiburton was recently honored with a leadership award from Southern Arkansas University.

Haliiburton is a junior Agriculture Edication major from Crossett, Ark., and was among students highlighted at SAU's 19th Annual Leadership Recognition and Awards for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Haliiburton received the following recognition and award(s): Agriculture Club Outstanding Service Award and Student Volunteer of the Year Award.

The Student Volunteer Organization Award is presented to one student who has significantly impacted their community through the power of volunteer and community service. This person has exhibited outstanding inolvement, innovative ideas, energy and vision through volunteerism during this past year. This student will become the first member of the SAU Volunteer Hall of Fame. The Outstanding Service Award is being presented to members of registered student organizations who have given their time, energy, and dedication, and have contributed to the overall success of the organization and its goals.

The theme for this year's annual event stated that true leaders act with courage, stand tall in the face of adversity and go where few have gone before because they know that example is the greatest school of humanity.

One of the main goals of SAU is transform and build its students into leaders who are willing to make a difference in the community and make society a better place to live.
