Eboni Edwards participates in Climate Change Theatre Action at SAU

2017 Nov 8

Eboni Edwards recently joined Southern Arkansas University Theatre to stage a free reading as part of the global Climate Change Theatre Action (CCTA) event.

Edwards, from Pine Bluff, is a sophomore Performing Arts: Theatre major. Edwards was a student director as well as volunteer actor for the event.

The CCTA event was held on November 4 at SAU's Harton Theatre as a part of the worldwide series of readings and performances of short climate change plays presented biennially in support of the United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP meetings). The selected short plays and monologues presented were written by playwrights from all over the world - and SAU was the only organization participating in Arkansas.

SAU Theatre Management students produced this free event in the hopes of initating constructive conversation about climate change. Each play was directed and performed by SAU students in staged reading style, and audiences were invited to discuss the plays with the actors and directors after the presentation.

CCTA 2017 is a collaboration between the Center for Sustainable Practice in the Arts, NoPassport Theatre Alliance, The Arctic Cycle, Theatre Without Borders, and York University.
