2016 May 10

The Southern Arkansas University Rodeo Team has concluded its season with Cord Barricklow qualifying for the College National Finals Rodeo to be held in Casper, Wyoming, in June 12-18, 2016.

The senior Agriculture Business major from Lebanon is one of the four students who will represent SAU at this year's CNFR.

Barricklow, who won the Champion Steer Wrestler and the Reserve Champion All-Around Cowboy during this season, will compete in the Steer Wrestling and Tie-Down Calf Roping final events at the CNFR.

SAU Rodeo Coach Rusty Hayes has led SAU Muleriders to the CNFR the past 10 years, bringing home two national championships and a host of other honors. SAU's rodeo program is geared at becoming one of the strongest in the nation. The new 78,000 square-foot Story Arena, a covered rodeo-style arena with a dirt floor and seating for approximately 1,400, is a key ingredient drawing rodeo athletes from across the counrty to Magnolia.

The College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) is where the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association awards individual event champions in saddle bronc riding, bare back riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping, and goat tying. More than 400 contestants spread across over 100 universities and colleges compete in the CNFR every year.
