Aurora Romo honored as an SAU Who's Who student

Aurora Romo, of Mineral Springs, Ark., was recently named as a 2014-15 Who's Who Among Students at Southern Arkansas University.

Romo is a senior Social Work major.

On campus, Romo is treasurer for SWEL, treasurer for Latinos Unidos, a member of the Spanish Club, Pi Gamma Mu, and Anime Club.

In the 2014-2015 academic year, Romo was awarded the Achievement Award and Dr. Betty Unger Blue Fall Scholarship.

A total of 13 students were named to the prestigious list for this academic year. Students who receive this award were either nominated by student organizations, faculty and staff, or they applied for nomination themselves. The University's Student Affairs Committee reviews the applications and selects the top-rated students based on a point system. Points are based on scholarship, leadership and service.

According to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, this award is one of the most prestigious awards the academic community can bestow. This exclusive honor is conferred by more than 2,842 schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

"And for the students - the outstanding campus leaders of the year - national recognition by the Who's Who program marks a pinnacle of scholastic achievement."
