Amanda Levin, of Drummonds, has been honored with the distinction of serving on the Southern Arkansas University 2015 Homecoming Court.

Levin is a senior Elementary Education major. Her campus involvement includes being a President's Ambassador and a member of Phi Mu Fraternity, Honors College, and Kappa Delta Pi. After graduation, Levin plans to achieve her master's and doctorate to become a college professor.

Selection to the Homecoming Court is a prestigious honor. Every fall, student organizations can nominate a male and female representative to be considered for the Court. Over a week-long process, nominees convene and are narrowed down during group and individual interviews with a committee of faculty and staff representatives.

Based on a point system that took into account GPA, an essay by the nominee, campus involvement and the group interview, the Court candidates were narrowed down to the top 10 men and top 10 women. Next were individual interviews, from which the top eight men and top eight women were selected to be SAU royalty.

Levin and the rest of the Homecoming Court will make several appearances throughout SAU's Homecoming week events, including the climatic naming of the king and queen at 2 p.m. prior to the Mulerider homecoming football game at Wilkins Stadium on October 10. Starting Monday, nominees will have the week until close to the game to campaign and gain as many student votes as possible.
